Dear Bruin Parents,
Congratulations! Your son was recently admitted into one of the finest academic institutions that boasts more top 20 programs than any other university in the world. With the decision to attend a four year college comes many other amazing opportunities and choices to be made. One of these unique opportunities is the choice to join a fraternity. The InterFraternity Council (IFC) website will help you and your son learn about the benefits of Greek Life.
Although each fraternity differs, all UCLA fraternities constantly strive to better their organization and their members. The fraternity experience offers countless benefits to aid in your son's transition from high school or community college. These organizations can help personalize your son's college experience by providing him with an instantaneous network of friends. This network offers a scholastic support system, hands on leadership experience, the opportunity to manage large-scale budgets, the ability to plan large scale events and the opportunity to interact with various faculty and administrators. Joining a fraternity is more than a four year commitment--it is a commitment to constant growth and improvement. As a result of all these opportunities, it should come at no surprise that fraternity men tend to have a higher rate of graduation than those men not involved in fraternities.
Fraternities are ethical and value-based organizations where strong bonds form and life-long friendships are developed. Although our individual letters may vary, the bonds that tie us together and the reasons for our inceptions remain common.
On behalf of the InterFraternity Council at UCLA, I hope that you and your son will look into greek life and consider embarking on a journey that is one of UCLA's oldest traditions.
Warmest Regards,
Matt Baskharroon
